G1 Adventure Tours, SPC (G1AT) launched as an offshoot of Bayside Adventure Sports (BAS) - a ministry out of Bayside Church in Granite Bay, CA. It is a resource to all churches involved in G1 Outdoors, a non-profit dedicated to helping churches launch and build their own adventure ministries based on the model of BAS. G1AT is open to all who want to join in life-changing, soul-enriching epic adventures! We provide Christian Adventure, EcoTourism, and Mission travel packages for the Christian Outdoor Enthusiast. The G1 stands for Genesis One where the Bible describes God’s creation story. The motto is "God Created the Earth...ride it. climb it. catch it. explore it. protect it".
G1AT is led by, Greg Weisman a veteran pastor who has been on staff at Bayside Church since 1997, then launched Bayside Adventure Sports, G1 Adventure Tours, and G1 Outdoors. G1AT is a Social Purpose Corporation (SPC) was founded in California in 2018. As an SPC, proceeds of this for-profit corporation are given to the non-profit G1 Outdoors. (More about SPCs below.)
We have the amazing opportunity to pursue our passion of sharing the Gospel in God's beautiful creation as we Ride it. Climb it. Catch it. Explore it. Protect it!
G1AT puts these trips together with extra attention to details like…
The goal of G1AT is to launch more and more Epic Adventures run by representatives of local churches involved in G1 Outdoors. Each trip's purpose is to use these epic adventures to attract and attach people to Jesus and His Church. For example, when Bend Adventure Sports or Plymouth Adventure Sports wants to offer their own Adventure Israel, Machu Picchu, or Alaska Jet Ski trip, a representative of their church/ministry will be coached on how to lead their trip and fill up their trip. That person will go at a reduced price as the trip leader and the church will then run their trip under the banner and insurance of G1AT. Want more information? Contact Founder/President Greg Weisman at 916 847-4734 or GregW@G1AT.life.
What is a Social Purpose Corporation (SPC)?
The SPC is one of two special corporation types in California that provide alternative forms for entrepreneurs who want to build businesses that pursue both profitability and broader social or environmental goals (the other is California’s Benefit Corporation). A modified form of a C-corporation, the SPC requires incorporators to state in the Articles of Incorporation a specific purpose that a nonprofit corporation is allowed to pursue under California law, or a specific purpose to promote the short- or long-term beneficial effects of the SPC’s activities on its employees, suppliers, customers, creditors, the community, society or the environment.
Created in 2015 by an amendment to California’s Corporations Code, SPCs allow their directors to consider the social impact of their businesses along with shareholder interests when making decisions. Indeed, the directors of SPCs are afforded tremendous discretion to choose how to balance and prioritize purpose and profit. Consequently, SPC directors in California can allocate resources and capital in pursuit of their company’s special purpose with less risk of exposure to shareholder derivative suits. As otherwise stated, directors of SPCs are not in breach of their fiduciary duties when they act in furtherance of their socially driven mission at the expense of some profit generation.

G1AT puts these trips together with extra attention to details like…
- Our prices are significantly lower than other professional trips since our trips are part of our ministry and planned by volunteers and the G1AT staff.
- Our trips are customized like no other trips offered because we have connections in countries we visit.
- Team members meet together to get to know one another and get input on details of the trips. Because team members know everyone on the trip prior to the trip, there are no surprises which can often happen when you sign up with tour group and join a group of others from around the country or the world.
- Team members encouraged to train together
- A portion of the trip (usually a day on the longer trips) is set aside for a Mission Experience. For Kilimanjaro the team visited the Courage House and Courage Center (both connected to Courage Worldwide’s work to save and minister to girls saved out of sex trafficking). For Machu Picchu, in 2013 the group helped put in a concrete floor at a mission project, then in 2014 visited the Compassion International Project in Lima, Peru.
- Photos and a trip video are produced for each team member
- A family-friendly Christian environment is part of every trip so attenders can count on clean language, no abuse of tobacco, alcohol, or drugs, and leadership being a positive role model for younger members of the team. Devotions are also a regular occurrence, led by different members of the team.
